Local Compassion

Why Local Compassion?

God’s heart is overflowing with compassion for all people, and we see that through Jesus’ time here on earth as He loved in relational and practical ways. Because of His example, we are called to serve others with compassion right here in our community. The truth is, Milwaukee needs us – and we need Milwaukee.

Below are some opportunities to serve right here in our community. For more on ways to partner with any of these organizations, email us.

The Hunger Task Force

The Hunger Task Force is Milwaukee’s leading anti-hunger organization, all while being only free and local food bank in the city. They believe that every person has a right to dignity and ensure that vulnerable children, families and seniors receive nutritious food.

Serving opportunities include food sorting, harvesting on The Hunger Task Force Farm, packing groceries on the Mobile Market, and administrative office work.

Care Net

Care Net Milwaukee is focused on creating a culture where women and men faced with pregnancy decisions are transformed by the love of Jesus and empowered to choose life for their unborn children and abundant life for their families. In this mission, they provide confidential and free services such as pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, baby supplies, counseling, abortion education, and post abortion support.

Serving opportunities include counseling clients, working in the baby room, administrative office work, and donating new baby products.

Hope Street

Hope Street is home to men, women, and children, whose lives have been profoundly affected by toxicity – whether from their environments or their own poor choices. The Hope Street home, called “The Greenhouse”, is an empowering Christ-filled community for individuals to live, learn, and develop new habits.

Serving opportunities include Saturday cleaning, teaching classes of cooking/fitness/dancing, and working on a committee.

Exploit No More

Motivated by the love of Jesus, Exploit No More’s mission is to dismantle the local Milwaukee sex trade of children using three key approaches; awareness, advocacy, and aftercare. 79% of human trafficking cases reported in Wisconsin occur in the City of Milwaukee – our own backyard. With our region known as the “mecca for sex trafficking”, Exploit No More is working to end the trafficking of our local children.

Serving opportunities: include creating care kits, donating new personal care products to their resource center, and serving at Exploit No More events.

Jenni's Serving Story

Purchasing a pair of boots for someone was just the beginning. Sometimes we're called to serve beyond the walls of a church, and for Jenni, God used her need to serve others in Milwaukee in a very special way.
